Global Studies Major
Foundations
Overview
All majors are required to take a set of foundation courses which introduce a variety of global issues and the skills necessary to analyze these issues from multiple disciplinary perspectives. The specific goals of the foundations requirement are to:
- establish a basic understanding of the contemporary international system and how it is analyzed;
- provide an introduction to the major world regions and their current environmental, political, economic and social conditions;
- initiate development of foundational knowledge sets and skills expected of Global Studies graduates, including critical analyses of world events and global processes, group research, and cross-cultural understanding.

Global Studies Core
Four courses must be selected from the approved course list in consultation with the Global Studies advisor; they must include no more than one course each from the following departments: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology.
